Stock configuration
Stock-keeping configuration
Section titled “Stock-keeping configuration”Set a stock policy per item so reorder alerts fire at the right thresholds. Each Stocked item can carry:
- Reorder level and reorder quantity
- Safety stock
- Lead time (days)
- Default warehouse
- ABC classification (A / B / C), set by an admin or auto-computed by usage value
How it’s used:
- Reorder reports filter items below their reorder level.
- When on-hand stock drops below safety stock, a low-stock notification is sent via email and in-app (never SMS).
The stock-config section appears only when the Stocked flag is on, and every change is audited.
Serial-number tracking
Section titled “Serial-number tracking”An item can be flagged serial-tracked at creation or edit, supporting warranty and traceability on finished pumps and valves. The serial-tracked flag is shown on the item detail and included in export. (The catalogue is already built to support batch and bin tracking, so fuller tracking can be enabled later without reworking existing items.)
Opening stock
Section titled “Opening stock”When migrating from a previous system, enter each item’s opening stock so the catalogue lands with correct, valued opening balances.
- For a Stocked item, enter an opening quantity and rate per warehouse (and per batch/serial when those flags are on).
- Save, this posts a valued opening balance (quantity × rate) that inventory reads as the item’s opening stock.
Rules:
- Quantity and rate must be valid, non-negative numbers; negatives are rejected with an inline message.
- Opening stock can also be entered via the bulk import preview path.
- Editing opening stock after the first real stock movement requires an admin override.
Opening-stock entry is audited (actor, timestamp), and only an admin or stores manager can enter or adjust it.
